Tammie Kovacs is the Business Development Consultant at MindWave Coaching. Her specialty is improving a company’s sales funnel at all levels and streamlining the sales cycle to shorten the timeline from Lead to Sale. She has 25 years experience in Sales and Marketing, and moved up through the corporate ranks due to talent, an analytical mind, and determination. She has transitioned from a corporate position to the consulting field so she can share her expertise with other businesses. Tammie is also in demand as a public speaker, presenting knowledgeably and confidently on many topics, ranging from developing and training a sales force, to streamlining sales processes.
Tammie started her career in the scientific world, earning a certificate/diploma as a Medical Lab Technician. While she loved learning the processes, she quickly found that she didn’t like the job because it was too repetitive. She enjoyed the challenge of learning new things and doing something different every day, so she took her technical knowledge to the corporate world and became a telemarketer for a supplier of in vitro diagnostic products. She developed a successful marketing plan to sell latex gloves that attracted the attention of the corporate VP, who moved her to an outside sales position. After a corporate merger, she was essential in educating the new sales force on product lines and sales processes. She helped grow the merged companies from $2M annual sales to $35M. She progressed through the corporate ranks based on her abilities and results, eventually earning the title of VP of Sales and Marketing. Part of her mandate was developing new product lines. Finding and advocating for a new, more accurate, and easier to use screening test for colorectal cancer, which has recently been adopted by the Ontario government’s screening program, is one of her personal crowning achievements.
After a cross-country move back to Ontario, Tammie briefly became an entrepreneur, selling high-tech coffee machines to businesses, but she was tempted back to corporate life by the owner of Extend Communications, an answering service. After examining their sales processes, she convinced him to hire her on as Director of Business Development. In this role, Tammie created a new sales strategy, reassessed and changed their approach to the sales funnel, and wrote a new sales story that highlighted the superior features of their service versus competitors’, to attract new business. Her goal was to shorten the sales cycle and increase the close rate. With her new strategy, they went from closing 2 new accounts per month to 10 new accounts per month. With this proven approach, the company increased annual revenues by 20%, year over year, during the 5 years she was there.
As the Business Development Consultant at Mindwave Coaching, Tammie brings her 25 years of sales and marketing experience to the table. Tammie makes a deep analysis of all aspects of a company's sales and marketing programs, from pricing to positioning. Her goal is to close the loop between Sales and Marketing, using market feedback and internal financial data. Using a four step process consisting of Analysis, Protocol Development, Training, and ongoing Seminars, Tammie will help small to mid-sized businesses create efficiencies to optimize their sales force.
Tammie has a 19 year old daughter and can often be found with her in nature, trail walking or cycling. She enjoys the meditative aspects of yoga, and loves puzzles of all kinds, reflecting her nature as a problem solver. She is always looking for something new to solve, collaborating with others and tenacious until she achieves her results. In her ongoing search for knowledge, she is an avid non-fiction reader, enjoying books on neuroscience and other medical fields; Malcolm Gladwell and Gabor Maté are two of her favourite authors. Her love of travel reflects her adventurous spirit, with her bucket-list destinations being Machu Picchu, Australia, and African Safari. She is an avid foodie, frequently trying new cuisines in her kitchen or at restaurants. Tammie is also active in the community, engaging in public speaking events related to empowering women, on topics ranging from how childhood trauma affects our adult lives, to developing self worth, to fostering healthy personal finances.
“I want to spark the energy that powers the sales force.”—Tammie Kovacs
